PDL Slams Uganda Pepper Newspaper for Slander Against Libyan Leader
19/02/2009 14:07:00
Smearing and vilifying the illuminating personality of the Guide and ‎Leader of the Al-Fateh Revolution, Brother Muammar Al-Qathafi is a ‎proof of how the Ugandan-based "Pepper Newspaper" has degenerated ‎into a mouthpiece and publishing centre of blasphemy, personal ‎hostilities and character assassination.‎

If one goes by the malicious, slanderous and dangerous stories, which ‎are designed and placed on the Ugandan Pepper Newspaper as news since ‎February 5 this year, one would conclude erroneously that the Libyan ‎leader is getting what he deserves. "Toro Queen sex secrets ‎revealed". ‎

Qathafi asks Toro Queen for a baby boy". "Qathafi, Toro Queen first ‎kiss". "Qathafi, Museveni clash over Toro Queen". "Qathafi buys Toro ‎Queen a plane". All of these satanic stories, which have become ‎leading news in the surreptitious newspaper, are dangerously ‎mischievous; they are parts of a broader scheme to murder Pan-‎Africanism and harm the good relationship that exists between
Uganda and Libya. It is also an attempt to undermine the progress of ‎the African Union (AU).‎

The devilish stories in the Pepper Newspaper suggest that Muammar Al-‎Qathafi had extra-marital affairs with the Ugandan Toro Queen Mother, ‎Best Kemigisi. This is fictitious and rubbish. Those stories attempt ‎to taint the image of African tradition and attack Islamic ‎principles, which the Libyan leader adheres to and is defending ‎everywhere on the global village. ‎

That newspaper is completely dedicated to trying to destroy the image ‎of one person-Muammar Al-Qathafi, as it spares no effort in trying ‎everything possible to smear the Libyan leader to the public. The ‎stories are only a bunch of outright lies, slander and vicious anti-‎African propaganda campaign against the continent.‎

Muammar Al-Qathafi's true and undeniable crime is the same crime ‎committed by Africa's independence heroes, like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of ‎Ghana, Patrice Lumumba of the Congo, Gamel Abdel Nasser of Egypt, etc ‎who stood up against colonialism, neo-colonialism, imperialism, ‎degradation and dehumanisation of the African continent and black ‎people everywhere. Our independence heroes through the creation
of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union ‎‎(AU) stood for peace, unity and progress of Africa, a vision the ‎Libyan leader has vowed to accomplish in his new responsibility as ‎Chairman of the AU.‎

We know the enemies of Africa would see the success of Muammar ‎Qathafi's chairmanship of the African Union as an affront to foreign ‎hegemony and merciless plunder of the continent. So, they are now ‎bent on fabricating the likes of "Salman Rushdi" (the British author ‎of the Satanic Verse) in the conscienceless African media to ‎undermine Qathafi's chairmanship of the AU. ‎

It must be made clear that freedom of the Press does not mean freedom ‎to slander other people. It is not the freedom to incite the public ‎against foreign dignitaries. It is not the freedom to discredit the ‎reputation of our heroes on the continent and the diaspora.‎

Much as we, in the Sierra Leone People's Democratic League (PDL) ‎believe in free speech, however, we do not believe in free insult, ‎free black mail, free defamation and free character assassination. ‎The PDL and all the progressive Organisations and individuals on the ‎continent and outside do not take slightly the Pepper Newspaper's ‎ill-conceived stories amidst intensified smear attacks on that proxy ‎media against the Libyan leader.‎

We ask the international community to condemn this practice of ‎reckless journalism by some African Salman Rushdis in the Pepper ‎newsier, against the Muammar Qathafi, the African Union and blacks ‎everywhere. We demand that the Ugandan Government of President Owerri ‎Museveni takes proper measures to stop the repetition of such
malicious propaganda against foreign dignitaries by a Ugandan based ‎so-called newspaper. We demand that the Newspaper apologise for its ‎irresponsible behaviour and commit itself not to indulge in ‎activities that are a disgrace to the practice of journalism.‎

SIERRA LEONE PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC LEAGUE
PDL
Public Statement 23 May, 2011.

PDL POSITION ON LIBYA.
The Sierra Leone People’s Democratic League (PDL) condemns vehemently the terror campaign against Libyan leader, Muammar Qathafi, members of his family and the entire people of Libya, and calls on the United States and its unholy alliance of neo-Nazis war criminals to stop their crusade attacks against Libya. We endorse and adopt the African Union’s (AU) position, which represent the wish of all African people and people of African descents.
The position of the AU strengthens the African values, which reject any attempt by any group to change Government on the continent and beyond through violent means. It also strengthens African roadmap solutions to African problems.
PDL appeals to all sane-thinking people and civilized institutions in the world to cry for an immediate and unconditional halt to the criminal campaign carries by the US and rogue allies against Libya, and also to recognize the honour, dignity and the free will of the Libyan people to decide on the political, economic and security of their country without outside interference. NATO’s indiscriminate, criminal and crusade attacks on Libya are unacceptable and run at variance with the imposed United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973. These terror attacks are harmful to civilian life and also violate the sovereignty, national independence and territorial integrity of Libya.
The imposed Security Council Resolution 1973 of the United Nations recognises the sovereignty, national independence and territorial integrity of Libya and its lawfully constituted government. It recognises Muammar Qathfai as the legitimate leader of the people Libyan people, and inherently affirms the unity and indivisibility of the Libya as one sovereign entity under one legitimate government. The UN does not recognize the so-called National Transitional Council (NTC) with its headquarters in the US and represented in Benghazi by terrorist al-Qaeda outfit, infidels, narcotic drug peddlers, organized crime groups and anti-African murderers.
The imposed Security Council is very clear on the principle that the Resolution does not call for regime change in Libya, and this fact has been repeatedly echoed by all of the continental powers and principal allies. Paragraph 4 of the SCR 1973 (2011) which authorizes “the use of all necessary means” is limited to the protection of civilians and civilian populated areas. Therefore, NATO and its coalition partners would be in breach of international law and flagrant violation of SCR 1973 (2011), if they engage in any acts, measures or initiatives that may hinge on regime change in Libya, contrary to the law that legitimises international intervention in Libya.
The United States, the European Union, the Arab League and the African Union unanimously agreed that the purpose of SCR 1973 is not regime change. The law does not grant a carte blanche right to NATO and allies to target the residence of the Libyan Leader. NATO and allies would require a new Security Council Resolution that would empower them under international law to arm Libyan civilians or engage in any other effort remotely connected to regime change. Such a Resolution thus far does not exist.
It is important to appreciate that Para. 28 of SCR 1973 (2011) established the initiative as a temporary measure, and renders the process subject to periodic reviews. The review could result to “suspending or lifting those measures as appropriate, based on compliance by the Libyan authorities”. The language of the law establishes further evidence of the inherent recognition by the Security Council of its indisputable continuing recognition of the current Libyan Government as constituted.
No international Instrument, protocol or consensus has yet recognised the international legitimacy of the Transitional National Council as the newly constituted government of the Libyan Jamahiriya. It is dangerous for a government to make public declarations without proper verification or implement extra-ordinary decisions without sound knowledge of essential facts, or proper consultations. The act of a government in international diplomacy bind its citizens, and that is why sovereign decisions ought to be made purely in the national interests at all times, after exhaustive analytical processes of consultations with comprehensive verifications.
Therefore, those dealing with the Benghazi-based criminal gangs as Government of Libya amply demonstrates the anti people stance and defamatory conspiracy on the part of foreign criminal adventurers on the African continent.
Events in Libya are very dynamic and rapidly transforming. It requires further reflection before a decision is made. Arming a notorious and murderous rebel force by certain countries and legitimising an anti-African terrorist government in part of the territory of Libya specifically Benghazi, is a criminal attempt to destabilize the African continent, and a serious threat to peace and security. The effect of such an unlawful act inevitably is to effect regime change, which would render the subject Resolution a mere pretext to invade a sovereign nation and member of the United Nations.
GMC believes that this would be establishing a new precedent of unpredictable consequences in international affairs, in that when a powerful country, or rogue states support a terrorist group to attack a legally constituted Government, for whatever reason, would seek justification under the Libyan precedent to wage an armed terrorist war so as to overthrow that government.
Peaceful dialogue as a prelude is being negated here as a rational approach to the settlement of disputes, which per se is contrary to both the UN Charter and the AU Constitutive Act. Any African government that recognizes and legitimises the Western-sponsored Benghazi terrorist gangsters, do so at the detriment to peace, security and progress on the continent. It is a shame and act of betrayal of black conscience for the President of Senegal, Mr. Abdoulaye Wade to recognize the terrorists in Benghazi. Such decision means recognition of the rebels in the Cassamance region of Senegal and other terrorist groups that are bent on destabilisng Africa.
The PDL stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Libya in the current NATO aggression and violent war crimes and crimes against humanity. Estimates of the dead in NATO’s led aggression against Africa are more than one hundred and ninety thousand and significant parts of the Libyan capital city of Tripoli’s infrastructure have been destroyed. The full extent of the damage will not be known for years and the country now plunge into a humanitarian disaster caused by NATO’s hatreds for Africa.
Viva one Africa, One country and One people!
Down with imperialism!
Down with neocolonialism!
Down with Wade’s madness!
