The Muslim Brotherhood, a dominant political force in Egypt and around the Arab world, is notorious for saying one thing to Western media and something else to local media. That was the case today, when leading member Essam al-Erian gave Reuters a strong but measured statement on the killing of Osama bin Laden — but left out key details from the group’s reaction on its Arabic-language website.

“With Bin Laden’s death, one of the reasons for which violence has been practised in the world has been removed,” Essam al-Erian, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s governing body, told Reuters. “It is time for Obama to pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq and end the occupation of U.S. and Western forces around the world that have for so long harmed Muslim countries.”

While al-Erian portrayed bin Laden as a cause for violence in the Reuters article, the Muslim Brotherhood’s statement on their Arabic-language page said nothing critical of him. The website refers to the killing of “Sheikh” Osama bin Laden, using an honorific title, and condemns the attack as an assassination. It demands America stay out of the internal affairs of Arab and Muslim countries, and blames the West for launching a media campaign to demonize Islam.

Above all, the MB’s Arabic-language statement “confirms that the legitimate resistance against foreign occupation, for any country is a legitimate right guaranteed by divine law and international convention,” in reference to America’s presence in Iraq and Afghanistan. By supporting violence against America’s troops in Muslim lands, the MB essentially defends the al-Qaeda campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The text also instructs the United States to stop its intelligence operations in Muslim lands, the key source of information that led to bin Laden’s killing. It furthers support the “legitimate resistance” of Palestinian groups against Israel, and tells the U.S. to do the same.

So while the MB claims to have renounced violence, it has honored bin Laden as a sheikh and called for terrorism against American forces in Muslim lands.

The Muslim Brothrhood does realize we can get their statements and translate them, don’t they?

    • cfbleachers

Yes, and they realize our propaganda machine mass media will cover for them as it has for the last dozen years.

Like all snakes, the Muslim Brotherhood sniffs the air with a forked tongue.

It plays footsie with the leftist media and the leftist media covers for them, promotes their ideological tripe, and generally paints America and Israel as the bad guys.

This time is a little tougher for the propaganda machine because they have to prop up Obama as a hero…and paint this as a solitary incident against bin Laden, while still covering for radical Islam.

That’s enough distortion even for this nest of lying cretins…to spawn a Journolisp.

      • aztikal

The duplicitous messages are not meant for our consumption and they fully realize that we will understand both statements….its the Arab street who couldn’t give a crap what their governments say in English. Arabic and the govt’s street cred is the only thing that matters in the ME.

You’ve touched on a fact that most people ignore: the American leftists are just as much an enemy of the USA as Islamo-fascists. While they do not consider themselves traitors, they do advocate the overthrow of the American system of free enterprise and personal freedom, replacing those things with a socialist dictatorship.

American leftists see groups like Hamas, MB, al Qaeda, etc. as the enemy of their enemy (the USA). Approximately 20% of Americans do want to follow Obama’s lead and “fundamentally transform” the USA into a Cuba or NorKor or their shining example, the old USSR.

You’ll probably never get them to admit to that. They rationalize their hatred of the USA by claiming corporate oppression or environmentalist activism or anti-war advocacy. They claim they are for “freedom” but what they really mean is that they want a complete lack of responsibility for themselves and oppression of the people on the right of the political spectrum.

After LIES HYPOCRISY is one of the most important Pillars of Islam the other three are CORRUPTION, MISOGYNY and DECEPTION.

From what I have gathered over the years I have to ask the question, Does the Muslim Brotherhood answer primarily to Islam or to Communism. Both use deceit as a right. If you are not bound by the truth are you bound by anything? I do not know which ideology governs this brotherhood since they use similar methods all the time but I do know that the Bolshevik has a strategy and a goal and they have been actively pursuing those goals for at least 150 years. It has invaded our minds and clouded our thinking. In that way it had invaded our government, not as an occupying army but as a stealthy spirit. They have promoted violence from their inception and much of that violence had no connection with the Muslim. Neither law nor army can oppose this invasion, only our own beliefs.

I do know that this Bolshevik doctrine has been political from day one and Russia was the first target to fall giving a political platform to this ideology which has been very active in the Muslim countries against the European colonies.

I do not intend to clear the Muslim for their violence but these two systems are symbiotic seeing they are far more potent combined than separate. This is not an invitation to take my word for it but to use your intelligence to see if I know what I am talking about. Check the evidence.

Looks like we have another target…

Gee, who would have thought the Muslim Brotherhood would say something different in Arabic being part of the religion of peace, and all. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.

Do I need to place the SARC here, or do you folks already get that?

  4. 4. Walt C

One word. . .Taqyia. It’s ok to lie in the furtherance of islam.

  5. 5. sockmonkey

In other words, the Muslim Brotherhood is willing to toss bin Laden’s corpse to the West’s leftist useful idiots as a propaganda tool, but to their own it’s business as usual. We should be both insulted and gratified that they think we’re that stupid.

  6. 6. Gork

They can demand whatever they want to. We don’t have to listen. If they’re going to say one thing in one language and another thing in another, we’ll pay attention to whatever we feel is to our advantage.

Those who speak with forked tongue shouldn’t be surprised when they get caught in their own lies.

  7. 7. Catino

    Camel$h¡t as usual

  8. 8. jihadisgay

My my, how tiresome. Breathtaking hypocrisy is their MO.
I bet Israel has some fingers just itching to push some buttons. And who can blame them? Not me.

Actually, as the progeny of Abraham they would not be looking for an excuse for vengeance. Ishmael was also a son of Abraham and he was of the flesh as these Muslims are. Also Esau and Jacob were grandsons of Abraham but one looked on the things of the flesh, the herds and wealth of Issac, their father, which he did inherit but that was not the birthright that Jacob bought. Jacob had to flee with the clothes on his back and was sent to school to learn the value of faith. Today there are both heirs of Esau and also of Jacob in the Israel of today. One is looking after the things of the flesh and the other few are looking to the power of God. They are the ones that carry all the weight.

“The Muslim Brotherhood confirms that the legitimate resistance against foreign occupation for any country is a legitimate right guaranteed by divine law”

It would perhaps be wise to obtain a list of the countries considered by the MB as currently “suffering foreign occupation”.

I have heard rumours of proof that the Cherokees were really muslims (until America was invaded by the Spanish Inquisition), and that islam is older than Judaism, so perhaps China was originally muslim too?
Once we can nail down the actual location of all the various ‘Da Al’s, we can build a nice big wire fence around them and stop ‘corrupting’ them with our technology, medicines, ideas of freedom and nasty western food.
The whole world would be a better place.

      The Islamist definition of “occupied lands” comes in two flavors;

      1. Any lands once conquered by Muslim armies (as during the First Jihad, 7th to 15th centuries AD) that are now in other hands are “occupied land”. This includes the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), Southwestern France (up to Poitiers’), most of the Balkans, Eastern Austria, etc. In short, any place Islam has visited the sword upon qualifies.

      2. Any part of the Dar al’Harb (Land of War), that part of the Earth not part of the modern Dar al’Islam (Land of Islam). Since Allah created the world exclusively for the faithful, any part of it not under the control of same is held by “the infidel”, and is thus “occupied”.

As a bonus, since Allah created everything, the entire Universe is technically “occupied land” unless under the control of Muslims. So, if you think, “Hey, let’s build starships like in ‘Star Trek’, colonize other worlds, and just let them HAVE the Earth”- forget it. They’ll just keep chasing you until you either convert (if they let you), submit (if they accept your doing so)- or they just kill you (the optimum solution according to the “doctrinaire” Islamist “theorists”).

“Progressives” believe that economics is a zero-sum game, but refuse to believe that Islam is a zero-sum culture. As usual, they’ve gotten it exactly bass-ackwards.

In Islam, only Islam is allowed to win. And “coexistence” is filed under “blasphemy” in the Unabridged.

That’s what happens when a culture created by medieval tyrants deals with modernity by the simple expedient of beheading anyone who dares to suggest that changes might be in order. Islam may mature and become a tolerable neighbor someday. But at the rate it’s going, it will be a long time coming.

If in fact it ever does.

      cheers (sort of)

      • I think that’s why the Great Old Ones and the Elder Gods battled it out beyond Fomalhaut 5 million years ago.

It’s then possible that Cthulhu is a muslim.

He certainly acts like one. That would explain Lascars helping him.

      • joe get

Nice summary. Don’t forget as well, everyone – in the muslim calendar, it’s 1389 – explains quite a bit…

    • Whit

Yes a nation has a right to resist and invasion but not always the power.

We have also been invaded, but by a foreign spirit and we are told we have no right to resist that spirit. Is this true?

I’m shocked, SHOCKED!!! Who would have thought such a thing!!! It MUST be another imperialist lie!!! Devious Americans translating into English.

  11. 11. SongDog

Who would have thought? Different messages in different languages to different audiences.

Actually any observer of politics in areas where there are large numbers of Hispanics has seen that tactic first hand. And there are never contemporary translations provided by the media. We only know what has been said or written when a political opponent has a translation made and disseminated.

Well, MBH are not the only one talking from all of their orifices, just check BBC in other languages than English. The didn’t mentioned anything leaders of free world like Cameron, Sarkozi,…siad in support of US in taking care of OBL, No. Instead, yesterday their main reporting about OBL was quoting a terrorist named Zaeef who was previously the spokesman for Talibans. Yes, Xaeef as export now. Zaeef of course was quoted as saying essentially that, so what, it is not a big deal that OBL was killed, and many people (like Khomeiniest and Taliban) will be unhappy now. It also quoted him saying that the news about OBL might not be even accurate. Now, the same day and of course after studying BBC Persian news, Khomeinist said exact same thing. At the same time, all backwards and radicals (Muslim BrotherHood, Hamas, Khomeiniests) very much in harmony issued the same statement and that is now US must leave the region. Oh BTW, Khomeiniests issued another statement saying, they are supporting unity of Palestinian groups since its goal is destruction of Israel.

Yet now, thanks to American support, they are poised to take over Egypt -

Closer to home, O’mamba has by this (for the queasy Left) cleansed the persona of the Muslim threat – the brotherhood we are supporting has no connection now with the moribund Osama.
The US can now be fully behind support of Hamas by more billions of dollars and the take-overs in the ME by militant ‘factions’ with even greater amounts of taxpayer dollars; the fundamental change in America would then be suffering Shariah Law after tossing our ‘flawed’ Constitution.
It doesn’t matter what ‘they’ say — or who they are.
A traitorous State Dept has been a problem since FDR. Now it just cannot get worse.
O’mamba is then the Hero. Long live the King. But . . . I will not submit.
