NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Shares of the following companies were among those that made notable moves in Thursday’s U.S. stock market:

Eastman Kodak Co. EK  shares rallied more than 13% a day after The Wall Street Journal reported the company had begun exploring a possible sale of digital-imaging patents.

Amarin Corp. AMRN, -2.47%  shares dropped 11% on worries following a rejection by the U.S. Patent & Trademark office of its patent application for its experimental drug to lower blood cholesterol levels. Read more about the rejection

Bank of America Corp.’s BAC, -3.53%   shares declined 6% with banks stocks under particular pressure amid global economic worries.

Cree Inc.’s CREE  shares declined 10% after the energy-efficient lighting maker late Wednesday said it purchased Ruud Lighting Inc. for about $525 million in cash and stock.

KB Home KBH, -2.07%  fell 11% after data showing a drop in the sale of previously owned homes in July. Other builders also fell. PulteGroup Inc. PHM, -1.77%   declined 12% and Toll Brothers Inc. TOL, -2.98%   fell 6.8%.

Monster Worldwide Inc. MWW   slid 10% after the government reported a rise in Americans filing for jobless benefits rose last week. Other employment-related companies were also hit, with Robert Half International Inc. RHI, +0.20%   off 5.6% and Manpower Inc. MAN, -0.84%   down 9%.

NetApp Inc.’s NTAP, +0.17%   shares fell 14% a day after the computer-network company reported first-quarter revenue short of forecasts. Read more on NetApp
