WASHINGTON -- Crime fell slightly in Cincinnati in 1995, but 70,426 persons in the tri-state area were victimized, according to the FBI's yearly study called Crime in the United States released Sunday.
The crime rate in the area was lower than the national rate, with about 4,500 crimes committed per 100,000 people here, compared to about 5,300 per 100,000 nationally.
Total crimes recorded in Cincinnati continued their downward spiral last year with nearly 3,000 fewer offenses committed. However, the number of murders and rapes inched up slightly from 1994 to 1995.
