Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a U.S. led operation on Sunday, President Barack Obama announced. U.S. officials said the terrorist leader was hiding in a $1 million compound in the town of Abbottabad at the time of his death.

"Justice has been done," Obama, 49, said during a late-night White House speech, adding that bin Laden's adult son and three others were killed during the firefight. No Americans were harmed during the operation.

Celebrities ranging from Oprah Winfrey to Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the situation.

Winfrey, 57: "Trying to decide what to do about tomorrow's show with [Obama] that was taped last week. War is definitely not over."

Lohan, 24: "Go USA!"

Katy Perry, 26: "America! F**k yeah! Here to save the motherf**kin' day, yeah! Does anyone else find it strange that this is announced on May Day? I am relieved in some ways, but have a feeling of uncertainty now. I believe in justice, but don't you think that an eye for an eye will make the world blind?"

Paris Hilton, 30: "Just landed back in L.A., so happy to hear the news of Osama bin Laden's death. He was the face of terrorism and such an evil man. The world is a much better place with him not in it."

Neil Patrick Harris, 37: "Everyone is sitting around my living room, mouths agape. Wow, what a night. Thank you, Mr. President, for such an eloquent speech."

Bethenny Frankel, 40: "Wow. Osama bin Laden is dead. That will make people sleep better at night. Monster."

Maxwell, 37: "They got Osama bin Laden! Whoa! For the victims, soldiers and the families who suffer loss or wait even now for the return of loved ones, thank you. I pray that all the soldiers receive the proper rehabilitation or medical resources to recover when they get back home."

Jack Osbourne, 25: "OK, it's official. This is shady! No body, no proof. They would have brought him back to the USA and added him to the exhibit, Bodies."

Solange Knowles, 24: "Tonight was just another stepping stone for me, and I'm sure I may be the minority on this one but revenge is not the answer. I started to feel anxiety about all of the possibilities from the announcement tonight, but quickly reminded that none of us have the power. This was more about my feelings of hope tonight and less about politics. I have been through a roller coaster of emotions this evening and wanted to share the optimism that I have in the midst of it all. The world will be the world, but I do have hope because my hope is invested in love."

Nia Vardalos, 48: "God bless all servicemen/women who pursue justice in search of freedom. Tonight, the impossible became possible because tenacity fought terror and won."

Jersey Shore's Deena Cortese, 23: "I hope this gives some type of closure to those who suffered during September 11 or lost a loved one. My heart goes out to you.

while i think the world is a better place without him, i don't believe we are any safer from more attacks. someone will take his place and therefore we could find ourselves attacked again.

I'm so proud to be an American. All of us were so deeply effected by 9/11, while an eye for an eye may not be the best method, it certainly feels good knowing the man behind our pain has taken his last breath.

What's everyone getting so excited about? A - someone else is going to step into bin Laden's place now and B - be on the lookout for another terrorist attack here in retaliation. Stay out of any big buildings.
