National Service Days
National
& Global Youth Service Day
The largest service event in the world,
mobilizes youth to identify and address the needs of their
communities through service and learning, supports youth
on a lifelong path of service and civic engagement, and
educates the public, the media, and policymakers about
the year-round contributions of young people as community
leaders. An active consortium of more than 200 National
and Global Partners organizes thousands of projects each
year in the United States and 150 countries.

Service America and National

Make
a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day, sponsored by
USA Weekend, is held each year on the fourth Saturday
in October. National service members have found this a
wonderful opportunity to show their organizational strength
by leading Make a Difference Day service projects, positioning
their program as a community resource and getting things
done. Additionally, many have found this a natural time
to kick off their year of service by linking their Opening
Day Ceremonies to a day of service.
Sponsors: Paul Newman of Newman’s Own
Support provided:
- $10,000 to 10 selected projects
- These 10 honorees, plus hundreds of local honorees,
will be spotlighted in an April 2005 issue, coinciding
with National Volunteer week, and on the usaweekend.com
website.
