Starting today, we’re offering Google News publishers a new way to highlight some of their best content in a feature we call Editors’ Picks. To be displayed in the Editors’ Picks gadget, publishers can create a special RSS feed to submit their site’s five best news stories. While Google News traditionally includes mostly text articles, your Editors’ Picks content can include a wide variety of mediums and formats--whatever you think is your site’s best work. For more details, please visit our blog post announcing this new feature: http://goo.gl/su2fR
Please note only already included sources will be able to set up an Editors’ Picks feed. You can learn how to create and submit this feed in our Help Center, found here: http://goo.gl/xE2BB
Thanks again for your feedback. Let us know in the thread below if you have any questions or feedback!
This would be ideal for TheGlobalHerald.com - we have an RSS feed of "featured" stories which are, in fact, editors selections - likewise, would be helpful if you could review our application for this site which has been a little while now after we fixed several issues.
Sounds interesting. The form listed is an update form. Should the publishers mention that this is for Editor's Picks in the textarea of the form ? Regards ~gogoi
Yes! Someone is responding to this forum. Sorry for the delay in response.
gogoi, it's a good idea to specify that you're interested in submitting an Editor's Pick's feed in the 'Subject' field of the form as well as leave a note in the 'Additional details and comments' field.
SFLynas, we use a number of factors in determining what feeds to show a given user. To check if you're feed is being picked up, you may want to set your personalization settings so that your site is shown more often. Additionally, you should make sure that your feed is up to date with no articles older than 48 hours.
If you have specific questions about your site, you may want to contact our team directly.
We've been successfully submitting articles to Editor's Picks for about a week now, but have encountered one difficulty with the author tag.
One of our regular authors has a hyphenated last name. We enter the name within the author tag with a capital letter starting each part of the hyphenated name, but the first letter of the second name is always converted to lower case in the Editor's Picks feed on the Google News page. Is there any way to override or correct this, so that our author's name appears as we would like it to?
