Born on Jan 19 1986,the year of the "RABBIT", Shoukry may have been raised in an apartment on Gamaat El Dewal Al Arabiya Street in the heart of Mohandessin, Cairo, Egypt...But this Cairene has always felt most at home on stage. Beneath the bright lights ...and in front of an adoring audience, this young star has stolen the hearts of the Arab World throughout his successful career as a singer, dancer, actor and entertainer. Completely self-taught, Shoukry learned to sing and dance completely on his own beginning at the age of 8. Even though he was brought up in a "not so musical/artistic" family, his love and passion for the arts were undeniable... Its that same passion that eventually led him to perform with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Massari, Gary Pine, and DJ Rio as well as learn from some of the best dancers and performers in the world such as Marty Kudelka (choreographer to the stars such as Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson) and Shane Sparks, (So You Think You Can Dance, You Got Served), Nicholas Bass (Justin Timberlake, Michael jackson), Tucker Barkley (Britney Spears). "The first thing I remember singing was 'I Swear' by ALL4ONE in the early 90's. I think i was probably 8 or 9 at the time... and all i could remember was how happy it made me feel... as for the first time i danced... was probably when i was maybe 12... I had just seen a video by Michael Jackson, 'Remember the Time' and fell in love with it... and the more i watched it, the more the choreography got ingrained in my brain, heart and soul. My parents weren't too thrilled about it though" he says as he laughs. Since a young age he knew that this was what he wanted to do and dedicated all is efforts and time from there on to both strive and succeed in what he loved and wanted to do. ENTERTAIN!! "Music is a HUGE part of my life and by a HUGE part i mean its my air, i cant live without it...it's everything to me... It's my best friend, my loved one, my family, my being, my existence...I'm a performer...well a struggling one...performing is my escape from all the tribulations that i face, and everything that i go through on a daily basis...Its who i am, the way i express myself..." Shoukry has been composing and writing his own music since he was only an 11 year old boy and choreographing since he was 16, yet was always told to do it "for fun"... but his passion to express himself, his inner thoughts and feelings were to grand to just put on the side burner. So he pursued it. Starting his career by winning both high school (where he studied IB Art alongside his curriculum studies) and college talent shows, Shoukry went on to found various performing arts companies including AUC’s H.O.O.D, and The Flavor Project (later known as EDGE). Shoukry has performed at the hottest venues and nightclubs throughout Egypt and has taken dance classes at the world-famous Millennium Studio in Hollywood Los Angleles. He graduated from college in the Class of 09 from the American University in Cairo, majoring in Mass Communications and minoring in Theatre. After not being able join in its 6th installment due to Shoukry's "Army Duties", in November 2009 Shoukry auditioned again for the Lebanese reality TV/Talent show "Star Academy" for its 7th installment that started on the 19th of February 2010. A combination of "Big Brother" and "American Idol", Star Academy joins candidates from all over the Arab world to live together and compete for the title of the “Star”. Competeing with thousnads of different artists from different genres all over the Arab world, Shoukry earned himself a spot in the the Arab world's number 1 watched show for the second time. Amongst 21 candidates, Shoukry started off with a big bang and instantly captured the audience's attention with his charisma, voice, dancing skills, and spontaneity; infamous for the first "prime" where he suddenly took off his mic while singing "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas (with a "I'm singing in the rain" theme) and joined dancers dancing under showers of "rain" and got drenched. "What can i say!?... I've always wanted to sing/dance in the rain... and I did it!" Later on when the Academy started appointing "delegates" to run the academy from the inside and speak on the be-half of the other candidates with their needs, thoughts and concerns, Shoukry was noticed for his astounding leadership skills. He was the first person in the 7 years of the academy to be voted a delegate by his fellow candidates for more than 5 weeks demonstrating what a charismatic, responsible, respectable, articulate diplomat this young man is. A delegate's job description would include coming up with extra-curricular activities, helping with ideas for the weekly evaluations of each candidate, as well as asking/demanding for their needs in addition to looking out for himself as well. Shoukry was the first to come up with a charitable project during his stay at the Academy and the only candidate in the 7 years to get honored as a delegate when he left the academy only proving that Shoukry is not only a force to reckon with on stage, but even on a day to day basis. In addition, Shoukry was dubbed the title of King of the Academy and "Superman", but the greatest recognition he could have asked for was that of Osama Al-Rahbany, "In my opinion, in the 7 years of star academy, Shoukry is the best male performer to hit Star Academy's stage... His precision in his acting and dancing is admirable... perfect". Shoukry kept going strong and was the last remaining Egyptian in the Academy. Now this young artist is spreading his wings and aiming for the stars looking to succeed in what he has always loved since he was a kid. Entertaining... but what will catch your eye is not only the artist/musician he is but above all his character and humanity. "I hope i can someday make a difference with my music... really touch people's lives... Help someone through a bad day, or let someone out there know that i maybe went through the same thing... Maybe even strive to become a good-will ambassador... I dunno. Everything is possible i suppose. We all have a purpose here, perfect in our own way. Perfect within our imperfection"See More
