The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. The Bachelor of Science degree provides an in-depth study of normal speech, language, and hearing processes, and a background orientation to disorders or communication. The Master of Science degree provides students with intensive course work in communication disorders and a wide variety of challenging clinical rotations both on and off campus.

Graduates of the masters program are prepared to take clinical positions in hospitals, community speech and hearing centers, private practices, schools, universities, and other related settings. Graduates with an interest in research are encouraged to pursue additional graduate education at the doctoral level.

All graduates of the master’s program meet the academic and clinical requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech- Language-Hearing Association, and the Oklahoma License in Speech-Language Pathology from the Oklahoma Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology. The program holds national accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech- Language-Hearing Association.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders moved into our new facility on the lower of the newly renovated Murray Hall on October 6, 2009. The facility includes a 12,000 square foot of Speech-Language-Hearing clinic and 13,000 square feet of space for offices, meeting rooms, and research laboratories.
