What is a username?
Your username is what you will use to sign in to BBC Online. So it's best to keep it short, memorable and inoffensive.
Why do I have to create a password?
A good password is an important part of staying safe online. It prevents others from using your account and pretending to be you.
Choose a password that is hard to guess but still easy to remember. Passwords like the name of a family member, telephone number, pet's name or the name of a favourite actor or writer, are a bad idea as they are easy to guess particularly if the person trying to find it, knows you.
What does the BBC do with my personal information?
We understand that your personal details and confidentiality are very important. All the personal information that you provide us will be stored securely and not be shared with third parties. However, please be careful when making contributions to message boards, blogs and other services as they are visible to all users. Once you post something, you can't remove it.
To learn more about how the BBC uses your contributions and your personal details, please read our Terms of Use and Privacy and Cookies Policy.
