STREETFIGHTER: Ducati's Streetfighter 848 will make its debut later in 2011.

Ducati has revealed its new Streetfighter 848 - a stripped-down version of the 848 which follows in the scorch marks of the Streetfighter/1098 duo.

Sporting the same 848 Testastretta engine as its superbike sibling, but most likely reduced in power and torque, the new model will position itself as a less expensive option to the larger Streetfighter thought prices are yet to be listed.

When the original Streetfighter had its public debut at the Milan show in November 2008 it caused quite a stir and went home with the “Most Beautiful Bike” award. It was only a matter of time before Ducati created a Streetfighter powered by the company’s smallest Testrastretta engine.

LIVE AT EICMA

Expect the new addition to have the same suspension as the Monster 1100 Evo’s 43mm Marzocchis rather than the 43mm USD Showa forks you’ll find on its 1098 sibling. Stopping power is also likely to come courtesy of cheaper non-Monobloc radial callipers than the Brembo Monobloc brake callipers of the more powerful machine.

The new bike will be available from November 2011and will likely be shown to the public for the first time at this year’s EICMA show. It will be available in red to appease Ducati traditionalists, yellow to cater for mid-range purists as well as a sinister matte-black to enhance its menacing image.
