Job Profile

The role of the Archive Producer is to ensure that the newsroom is given the best possible service in locating footage,
both ‘on the day’ and archive content. The Archive Producer will be responsible for the provision of the best possible
content required by the news production teams. You will have a deep knowledge of news and current affairs and be
able to utilize numerous resources in order to guarantee producers are given as many options as possible for their
footage requests. You will attend the daily news and planning meetings and will be required to package together clips
for coverage based on the outcome of these meetings. Almost a sixth sense will be required to second guess the
needs of the output teams. You will also be responsible for the communication into the Archive Area for new footage,
making certain that it is captured, catalogued and stored in accordance with Al Jazeera’s Archive Policy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• You are required to service the research and footage requests to internal and external clients.
• Represent the Archive at the daily Editorial and Planning meetings.
• To prepare on the day compilations for producers as per output requirements.
• To be across developing stories and latest news lines and provide pictures for these stories both from agency
  and archive.
• Locating and arranging delivery of footage from 3rd parties as required by clientsand advise on rights/licensing
  restrictions.
• You will assist in the processing of AJE rushes and agency content into the archive when requested.
• You will adhere to AJE Archive policies and procedures.
• You will be expected to assist in both the Media and Tape Archive areas when requested.
• You will be expected to understand and adhere to the workflows and processes of the Archive Area.
• Show a consistent ability to meet tight deadlines and to deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrate effective communication and provide feedback to Line Managers.
• Demonstrate initiative and proactive behaviour.
• Have the ability to multi-task under pressure.
• Any other reasonable duties required by the management.

Essential Skills

• An excellent understanding of news and current affairs and an eye for detail.
• Fluent English speaker and able to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• A high level of interpersonal skills. An ability to give concise reports, feedback and share learning.
• A highly motivated and enthusiastic approach coupled with a ‘Can Do’ attitude.
• Recognize early signs of difficulty and delay and communicating these to your line manager/clients.
• Able to deal with competing demands and remain calm under pressure.
• Able to solve problems quickly and effectively and to the best conclusion.
• Understand the departmental reporting structure and to adhere to it.
• Able to work in a 24/7 shift based environment.

Working Experience

• A minimum of 5 years experience working in an archive or research environment, preferably already in
  broadcasting.
• A demonstrable interest in News & Current Affairs.
• Able to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment.

Academic / Education Qualification

• Proven education with a qualification in a related subject matter or a minimum of 5 years of archive, research
