Unit Supervisor - Camera/Lights (Doha Deadline: 2 Oct 2011)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

The Supervisor of Unit Cameras/Lighting will originate all camera shots as Directed and used by the Studio Operations production teams both on Live rolling News, Live and pre-recorded Studio based programmes and on location when required.
He/She will manage and operate the camera and lighting equipment, both in the Studio, on the floor or on location. He/She must achieve and ensure accuracy whilst maintaining the highest technical quality at all times. This involves pro-actively providing solutions where the planned situation has to change to achieve the programme requirements.

Operation of camera jibs is also required. The Supervisor of Unit should liaise with the Team Leaders and Senior specialists in the camera department to ensure good working practices and where necessary provide training and assistance to them.


The Supervisor of Unit reports to the Head of Cameras and lighting and in his absence deputizes his position.


The Supervisor of Unit should be proactive in adjusting lighting where necessary and to offer advice on new camera shots.

Essential Skills 
•Operation of the Robotic Camera control system and simultaneously operating the camera control system
•Operating all cameras and jibs/cranes as Directed, both Studio/Newsroom and location/OB based.
•Operating the lighting control panels & maintaining the lighting design.
•Maintenance of the cameras and control systems and working with Engineering to achieve the highest Technical standards at all times
•To liaise with Team Leaders and Senior Cameras/Lighting on the daily running and organization of the camera lighting section

Working Experience 
•A minimum of 5 years experience working in television
•A minimum of 3 years experience in a 24 hour news environment
