Alexandria is hosting the Arab Cultural Festival on Saturday, which will be held in support of Palestine’s bid for recognition by the UN.

Waleed Kanoush, head of the Alexandria Centre of Arts, where the festival is taking place, said the festival is an occasion that affirms the solidarity between Arab countries and their support for an independent Palestinian state.

Kanoush affirmed the link between culture, art and politics, stating that art can be a great way to transmit ideas, especially in our digitalised era.

Human rights lawyers and specialists, including the international law professor, Hesham Sadek, will be holding lectures at the event.

There will be a theatrical sketch about the problems facing refugees, and music bands will also be playing.

Alexandria Centre of Arts (Markaz Al-Horeya w El-Ebdaa), 1 Horeya Road, Alexandria.

Saturday 24 September.
