News

Bloomberg News delivers the stories that matter to global professionals. If it affects the markets or alters the course of business, Bloomberg is there—providing the most accurate information in milliseconds, on virtually every economic indicator.

Bloomberg offers fact–based news as a resource to make real–time business decisions. Our journalists produce breaking, analytical and enterprise stories—for an audience of millions.

Business – Bloomberg News

Bloomberg News is one of the world’s largest newsgathering operations. Our more than 1,800 journalists and editors write more than 5,000 stories every day.

We write news for all Bloomberg platforms—from the Bloomberg Professional® service to magazines, websites and beyond. Our journalists provide everything from headlines to in–depth projects and award–winning investigations.

Bloomberg News has high standards of accountability and transparency. We were the first news organization to offer full transparency by posting the names, emails and phone numbers of our journalists at the bottom of their stories.

The principles that drive Bloomberg News—accuracy, precision, fairness, integrity and transparency—haven’t changed since our inception under Editor–in–Chief Matthew Winkler in 1990.

Who thrives here? Journalists who can pivot from quick prose to in–depth reporting and more. Proven professionals who take responsibility for assignments and stand by the finished product.

With more than 150 bureaus in more than 70 countries, high–performing journalists often transition globally—as far and wide as their language capacity.

Business – Magazines

Bloomberg magazine publications thrive in an era of contraction throughout the print world. We’re constantly investing in our brands and expanding our global footprint. For every breakout cover story, there are a number of valuable stories in the wings. Leveraging our business and financial strength, we’re able to take investigative risks and increase the quality of our work exponentially.

Bloomberg Businessweek is a trusted source of essential, comprehensive insights that business leaders use to get ahead. Combining the innovation and scale of Bloomberg with insight and depth, the new Bloomberg Businessweek offers a global perspective to help senior executives profit from breakthrough information.

Our goal is to be the most influential business magazine in the world—both comprehensive and seductive. Comprehensive in that business leaders can read it and be prepared to compete in the week ahead. Seductive in that business leaders will read it and constantly be surprised, meeting new companies and seeing things differently.

Bloomberg Markets magazine is the only magazine for the global financial elite, providing in–depth and authoritative stories on the companies and people who move the markets.

The magazine targets an influential and ultra–affluent audience with little time to consume media. We’ve succeeded in reaching global CEOs and CFOs, winning more major business and financial journalism awards in the last 10 years than The Economist, Forbes and Fortune combined.

Who thrives here? Competitive journalists with the will to win. Self–driven professionals with the ambition to expand great brands in print. Versatile writers who can produce great feature stories—researching a subject, getting inside, doing analysis, drawing conclusions and pulling together a tight piece.

Case Study: Amanda Bennett Story

Bloomberg News reports not only on the markets but also on the human impact of market behavior.

One standout example is a story written by Amanda Bennett, Executive Editor for Projects & Investigations, entitled "End–of–Life Warning at $618,616 Makes Me Wonder Was It Worth It." Losing her husband after a seven–year fight against cancer, Amanda used the experience to write a first–person account of the human cost of healthcare.

In this story, Amanda teamed with Bloomberg investigative reporter Charles Babcock to compile and examine the more than 5,000 pages of healthcare documentation relating to her husband’s cancer. They tracked and accounted for all expenses, including hospital stays, doctor visits, lab costs and more. The piece ran on the cover of Bloomberg Businessweek and received international attention.
