Welcome!

Georgetown University's Department of Mathematics & Statistics promotes research in both pure and applied mathematics as well as in statistics.  Our faculty prides itself on its innovative instruction and curriculum, resulting in a close working relationship between students and faculty.

In addition to the minor in mathematics, we offer two majors, a B.S and an A.B. in Mathematics.  We do accept appropriate Advanced Placement credit. Questions about our undergraduate program including approval of courses should be addressed to Professor Mary Erb, our Director of Undergraduate Studies.

We are also proud of our new Master of Science in Mathematics & Statistics which has grown beyond expectations the past three years.  As part of the Masters Program, undergraduates can apply for the 5-Year Program in which they can obtain a Masters degree with one additional year of school.  For more details about the graduate program, visit the   Masters Program.  For questions about this program, contact Professor Ken Shaw, Director of Operations of Graduate Program.

For those who are interested, we have an active colloquium series.

For students who are having difficulty with their lower level mathematics courses, we offer free tutoring, 6:00-9:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday, at our Math Assistance Center in Math Lounge, 3rd Floor, St. Mary's.  If building is closed, call 202-687-8198 and someone will let you in.

Students who enjoy talking about mathematics with their peers or solving problems might be interested in our Mathematics Club.
