GT5 Spec 2.0 updates detailed Flame On
Gavin Mannion   October 6th, 2011  clock image  1:45 pm

GT5Spec2.0

So starting yesterday afternoon GT5 supremo, Kazunori Yamauchi, started tweeting out what we can expect in the Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 update.

It was also announced that the update will be released on the 11th of October, coincidentally that’s the same day Forza 4 is released… I wonder if they knew that.

So what’s the update going to have I hear you ask? Well thanks to dualshockers I don’t need to collate all the tweets myself, the GT5 Spec 2.0 update will contain the following

  1. Simplified interior view added to all standard cars.
  2. User control of the weather change feature.
  3. Added a setting sheet feature allowing you to save multiple car settings.
  4. Spec 2.0 opening movie.
  5. Improved UI usability and response.
  6. Replay rewind and fast forward.
  7. Ability to save during a race
  8. Online Lounge Expansion (Ability to narrow down car types via search, shuffle races).
  9. Expansion of the B-Spec remote race you can play from GT.com (a graph display now shows changes in race rankings.).
  10. Expanded Photo travel features. You can now take photo’s of cars together with your avatar.
  11. Added a “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel
  12. Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars.
  13. Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport.
  14. Improved physics and AI.
  15. Support for the Logitec G25/G27 Steering wheel.

Honestly that’s a pretty poor showing to try and rival another games launch with. The only exciting part is really the 12 new cars but it’s not like GT5 was short of cars in the first place and as NASCAR is stock car racing the 11 NASCAR car’s added does feel a bit like a cheap cash in not to mention if this first screenshot below is the new interior view for standard cars then there really is a lot to be desired.

Now all that’s left to do is sit back and wait for the GT5 defence force to arrive and tell us all how amazing that interior view is and that I’m just hating on a PS3 title because someone has paid me to.

How much does this DLC cost?

  • Anonymous

No I can finally do endurance races

  • Anonymous

The multiple settings saved for the cars was also very much needed.

  • Weanerdog

I am beginning to wonder if Lars isn’t really Gavins PS3 Alter ego.

  • aktex

Couple of great updates, especially the ability to save during a race and G25/G27 support. Cant wait to test it with my G27!

Now some details on the dlc would be nice! :)

Gavin. That interior is AMAZING! It reminds me of the very first Test Drive!

But all the jokes aside, this is kind of a poor showing, since they had like a year to get all this done. I’m more interested in the DLC packs that are to follow.

  • http://twitter.com/CaptainNemo42 Charles Small

From what I have heard, the DLC is going to free, but I cannot confirm this.

Also, the DLC is only stated as a Racing Car Pack, a Course Pack, and a Racing Gear Pack (Don’t know what that is)

The Course Pack better be worth it. And the Racing Car Pack beter not include another model of the Mazda MX5 or a Honda Civic or Toyota Yaris. 600 of all those are mre than enough!

I agree, I think this is like a “Prep” package for what’s to come, or at least I hope so.

Nascar cars? Seriously? Who likes Nascar anyway? Do I look American? :P

They should have added more customization for cars.. ALL cars.. not just the premium cars.

    Turn 10 =>Top Gear => European
    PD=> Nascar => American

Europe =/= Britain! :P In fact, Europe > those silly islanders and their silly language.

  • Anonymous

This is what the community wanted, if you read Mr Yamauchi’s statements, at least he gives them want they want.  Go play something else if you don’t like it. 8P

As for a cheap cash in Gavin, I think before making such claims you may want to examine their original code, and then the updated Spec 2.0 code, to determine the truth to that claim. Refining an engine is something that takes time, and without knowing how much work went into it, I don’t really think it’s fair to call it cheap.

And I’m sure you read this, but ‘simplified interior view’ does lead one to believe that it won’t be as detailed as the premium cars. So, not sure why you’d be expecting detail on par with the premium cars, but that’s not how one defines simplified.

I’m assuming the Racing Gear Pack is for your B-Spec drivers, so you can equip them differently.  Meh, I says to that.
