The library is a member of the CLAMS Library Network. Click on the Clams link to view and use the library's online catalog.  In additon to seeing network holdings, you can access reference databases, downloadable audiobooks and e books. Click on the link for databases for access to online magazines and newspapers. Downloadable audio books and e books are access by clicking on the OverDrive icon and following the instructions.

Your Mashpee library card is honored at most Cape and Island libraries. If you have a CLAMS card, you can take out books, periodicals, audio books, DVDs,museum passes and puppets kits. Select View My Account on the main menu of the CLAMS catalog and follow the directions to see your account status. You can see what items you have checked out, when they are due, or if you can renew those items, if you've added a PIN to your account.  You can also make requests for items you'd like to pick up at the library. If you don't already have a PIN number on your library card, ask the Circulation staff to add one for you. You may also ask staff on the second floor reference desk to add a PIN for you. PIN numbers are not added over the phone because library staff need to see some identification before adding or changing a PIN.

You need a PIN number to access your account online from the library or at home or to use the Internet stations in the library.  Visitors without CLAMS cards may buy a guest pass for $1.00 per day. Printing from the library computers is available by purchasing a swipe card from the printer/copier kiosk. Staff will walk you through purchasing cards and show you how to activate the printer/copier. Reference Staff can help you in person or by phone with reference questions, renewals,or to reserve a quiet study room on the second floor of the library.  Reservations made be made up to one week in advance. The phone number for the reference desk is 508-539-1435 X 3003.

If you don't find what you are looking for in CLAMS, you can click on the link for the Virtual Catalog. This allows you to search other Massachusetts library networks for titles and make requests for items not available through CLAMS.  The item you want to request must have an available status to make a Virtual Catalog request.  Items which are checked out to other patrons cannot be requested until they are returned to the lending library.  If the item you need is checked out, try again in a few days.  if the status is now available, make your request.  If a CLAMS library doesn't own the item you need, or it's not on the Virtual Catalog, ask the staff for Interlibrary Loan Services. Through this, we can borrow many items from non-Massachusetts libraries for your use.

Information about Children's Services is available by calling 508-539-1435 X 3007. Children's materials are checked out at the children's circulation desk. All adult items are check out at the adult circulation desk on the first floor. Museum pass reservations may be made by calling 508-539-1435 X 3002. Volume of calls is heaviest when the library first opens. Service tends to be faster if your call can wait until the library has been open a while.

A number of useful online databases, which have been funded by the State of Massachusetts, can be accessed in the library or through your home computer.  Full text newspapers and periodicals are included in the Reference Databases.  Access to the databases is through the CLAMS link.

We hope your visit to the library will be pleasant.  Let us know if there is anything we can do help you.  Staff is ready to assist you to use our services.
