Irving Leveson

Biographical Highlights
Irving Leveson served as Director of Economic Studies of Hudson Institute from 1977-84 and Senior Professional Staff at Hudson from 1974-77. From 1984 to 1990 he was Senior Vice President and Director of Research of Hudson Strategy Group, a consulting firm that spun off from Hudson Institute and became part of Marsh & McLennan.

Irving Leveson has been President of Leveson Consulting since 1990. Before joining Hudson he held senior positions with the New York City Health Services Administration and the New York City New York City Planning Commission and served with the RAND Corporation and the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Recent Hudson Institute activities include directing workforce studies for Intelligence agencies, an economic and societal trend analysis for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and development of Hudson’s scenario-based After 9-11-01 Chartbook.

Irving Leveson received a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in 1968.
Publications and Media Exposure
Irving Leveson is author of American Challenges: Business and Government in the World of the 1990s, Praeger Publishers, 1991. He co-edited Western Economies in Transition, Westview Press, 1980, edited Quantitative Explorations of Drug Abuse Policy, Spectrum Publications, 1980, and co-edited Analysis of Urban Health Problems, Spectrum Publications, 1976. Irving Leveson is the author of numerous Hudson Institute reports, monographs, working papers and articles, including regular contributions to the Corporate Environment Program and follow-on multi-client studies. He was lead author of the seminal 1982 Hudson Institute study: The Future of the Financial Services Industry. Irving Leveson's articles have appeared in prominent news and business publications. He has been quoted extensively in national magazines, newspapers and business publications and spoken at meetings of major business and professional organizations. He has prepared proprietary studies and advised and made presentations to companies on a wide range of subjects.
