Sri Lankan scheme to help fight medical brain drain
Dr Ayodyha Wataliyadda, a paediatric doctor from Sri Lanka, is furthering her medical career with a two-year placement in Yorkshire, England.
She has been supported by the Foreign Placement Coordination Centre, a scheme backed by the Sri Lankan government.
As part of the scheme, she has signed a bond that for every year spent in the UK, she will work for at least four years back in her home country.
The Health Show is broadcast on BBC World News on Saturdays at 1010 and 2010 GMT and on Sundays at 0710 and 2310 GMT. The programme is supported by the Gates Foundation.
