Film casts fresh doubt on William Shakespeare's work

Help

A new historical thriller is re-igniting the age-old debate over the authorship of Shakespeare's body of work.

Anonymous takes the view that it was Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, and not William Shakespeare who was in fact the true author of the famous plays.

Oxford is played by Rhys Ifans, while Queen Elizabeth I is played at different stages of her life by Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson.

Talking Movies' Tom Brook reports.

Talking Movies is broadcast on BBC World News on Saturday at 1330 GMT and is repeated on Sunday at 0030, 0730 and 2030 GMT.
