(CBS) - We are one step closer to achieving my personal dream of owning a hoverboard from "Back to the Future 2". Check out the above video displaying quantum levitation in action that proves once again just how cool science can be.

The amazing video demonstrating quantum superconductors locked in a magnetic field was posted by YouTube user ASTCvideos and filmed at Tel-Aviv University.

If you'd like to check out more videos by ASTCvideos, you can go to their YouTube page by clicking here.

wonder if it could someday tap into the earths magnetic field or the Sun's. Maybe even a gyroscope replacement. Think of millions of these on a nano scale spinning on a disc at astronomical speeds then spin the disc then put several discs together...

Incredible science.

As a note : Beware replying to air head comment trolls. The subject is Quantum Levitation, not religion. Trolls always change the subject. Don't give them the satisfaction of replies.

This is what is known in the trade as a "parlor trick"

It is quite easy to duplicate - just get 2 rare earth permanent magnets and put one on top of the other in a fixture and they will repel each other. Hovering magnets!

Unfortunately it has little practical value, unless your planning on gluing magnets to all the road surfaces in the country.

Typical thick, American, self-assured dismissiveness. What is floating is NOT a grade-school rare-earth magnet, it is a supercooled test specimen. Unsurprisingly, high-power magnetic propulsion technology was developed subsequently by a Frenchman, Louise Octave Fauchon-Villeplee in 1918, a German, Joachim Hansler in 1944 and an Austrailian, Sir Mark Oliphant in 1950 and applied to peacetime use to develop and construct the first high-speed commuter maglev train in...China. In the meantime, authoritarian, know-it-all Americans feel really proud of their noisy, rumbling, 100 year-old technology diesel freighters and subways clattering through their cities at a snail's pace. Good for you.

Are you really that dense? The only "parlor trick" here is your vain attempt at intelligence. Did you WATCH the video? Rare earth magnets do not "LOCK" into quantitized spatial orbits let alone orbits of varying angels to each other. Try that with a regular magnet, and it will flip and instantly join with the other magnet. As an American, in amerilatino's statements. We have fallen behind in science compared to the rest of the world, but hey, we have lots of churches...

Could this be related to gravity???

Don't be silly! Science is much more amazing than any of your gods!

LOL! There is a story that goes something like this. A scientist said we now know all that God knows. So God reaches down and picks up a hand full of dirt. The scientist says that soil. It's comprised of, and then God interrupts and says make your own.

Ezekiel's spaceship, Ezekiel chapters 1, 2, 10: a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it... quantum levitation.
