"Close to 30 of the 48 animals were shot and killed on Tuesday. Officials were pondering how to dispose of the remains."

Really they are just arguing over who will get to stuff and mount these dead animals.

You know they all want them hanging over their fire places.

Frankly I don't understand why they don't call in the people from The Wilds at Cumberland, Ohio, 20 miles from Zanesville. The Wilds is the largest animal preserve in the world. They probably have the knowledge on how to catch them. Their shooting the animals to kill.If they can shoot them, why are they not using a tranquilizer gun to catch them, rather than kill them?

They love to kill.

Police are having a field day here. Like going to Africa without the price tag.

Kill Kill Kill is all they know.

Speculating, the area's sheriff/police probably had it in for the guy, and had already developed this postage stamp-sized contingency plan to "teach the guy a lesson". And since he's dead, they would feel deprived of that little reward.

It is a shame the local police did not have all of you really smart people to consult with before they took action.

Obviously they must have consulted people such as yourself instead.

So you thing the cops had no foreknowledge that those animals were there?

The guy had just gotten out of jail.

Why in the world did they not just try and catch the animals and put them in a zoo?? Some of these animals are extinct and the officials are just killing them.. Way to go Ohio!!!!

It's the police mentality.

Ohio is a police state and the love to kill anything living.

Bet they are all patting them selves on the back after each animal is gunned down.

I hope that this story in incorrect in stating that officials intend to kill ALL of the animals. How can they justify killing a giraffe?!

They couldnt have tranquilized them? There is something here that doesnt add up. The owner is dead how? all the gates are all left open? these different animals have to be kept separated so how did they all just get out? I smell B.S. and its not the animals.

The only good thing about this story is that the anal orifice that was keeping these poor animals is dead.

why are people joking about this horrible emergency. why couldn't the 911 emergency been sounded and the animals saved? the animals shouldn't have been housed on a farm with no safe guards and most likely were not cared for the way they should have been. why does the state of ohio allow elegal auctions of exocite and wild animals anyway? we surely will be our own undoing.

is this any different than if 100 inmates with 100 trucks and say 500 weapons escape from an ohio prison with intent on killing any and every person they come in contact with. no wonder our world is falling apart. we only have 3 things we have to do in this world. 1 take care of each other. 2 take care of the gifts we have been given, animals etc.etc. 3 take care of this plant. we're doing a lowssy job. we just wipe them out. and keep on going.

Congrats to the clod Sheriff Matt Lutz and the Muskingum County Sheriffs Dept- they got to kill 95% of the escaped animals with assault rifles. People from the Columbus Zoo- not even having been called- decided to do the right thing and rushed to the area to find almost all the animals already shot dead. Their grand plan is just to kill everything? They know this place is there with all these animals for years- What a bunch of ******* morons in Ohio. Those animals didn't asked to be caged- then they get out and get slaughtered by ******** in uniforms for the 'Good of the public'......do you shoot drunk drivers 'For the good of the public'?? Rapists? Stupid bastards!!!!!!

you got that 'yankin', if I was a next door neighbor I would have loaded guns... would not want to go outside with a coffee and newspaper and see a Lion licking its lips..

LOCAL government, county and state need to get their act together and closely regulate such 'preserves'.

Your right this is what the 'Columbus Zoo' is for. They needed to get out there more often and assist and convince this guy he is 'over' his head. NOW the animals are dead in the head.

Ohio cops, too many are bullies and jerkwater clowns.

Cops live for the chance to use their guns to actually kill something or someone. It's part of the mindset. We used to get groups of them on our shark fishing boat--they used their 9mm's to shoot the sharks when reeled in close enough to the boat. They really got off on it.
