Stamp Duty raises £6bn each year for HM Treasury
Stamp duty is a relic of the 17th century that was only meant to be temporary, but now raises £6bn a year for the the government, which shows little sign of cancelling the unpopular tax levied on house buyers.
Giles Dilnot looks into his history and calls for reform as he spoke to Peter Bolton King of the National Association of Estate Agents and Conservative MP Karen Bradley.
