The report says that the most important part of counter terrorism is not technology, but its cops on the ground gathering intelligence. NYC counter terrorism force speaks 60 languages and dialects, and they have their own intelligence officers all around the world. IMHO this calls for a Secure City Status for major cities, a standard that would certify that city officials and cops corruption levels will not jeopardize the safety and security of the people, both locals and guests. And that is easy to measure. I think we shall move forward with such a standard. In my hometown, Monterrey Mexico, NYC-CT-Squad street intelligence strategy is currently used by organized crime here where one month ago we had a terrorist attack sponsored by a drug cartel, at a casino where 55 people died, and to this date no city official has been held responsible for that, in spite that bribes have been documented by the media, and the place had fake emergency doors and it had passed all inspections. So, I propose New York city to team up and extend its counter terrorism program to many more cities in the world so they could pay for it and also be certified. Who would second this proposal?.

The topic should read...fight liberalism in New York, same as terrorism.

All of this stuff is really depressing. I had to go watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG8W7WEoxMc again, just to make myself laugh a little.

God Bless America!

This only proves the police dept. is just as important as the fire dept. I wish grants for programs such as radiation detectors and surveillance would trickle down to the smaller police depts. At least those located near nuclear power plants. It is that which we are unprepared for that will be attacked. In my job I see grants galore for firefighters which I agree is extremely important, but couldn't we remember our police officers as well?

Don't kid yourselves people, we are in the middle of a war right here in America. Forget your political correctness and privacy concerns, this is a full blown war and people don't realize it. The target of these foreign solders is our civillians, it's a non-conventional war that most people just don't understand, it's not business as usual.

Not one question by the 60 Minutes reporter about civil liberty or privacy concerns. Not one. It's not your Dad's CBS News anymore, that's for sure. Weird.
