We will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Young Foundation and the 10th Anniversary of Grandparents Plus at the Annual Michael Young Memorial Lecture - this year delivered by the Rt. Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP on "Family and Kinship in an ageing society".

Michael Young wrote prolifically on the issue of ageing. He argued that societies would need to reform radically many of their institutions and to change assumptions about what growing old means. He helped establish Grandparents Plus, the University of the Third Age and LinkAge.

Supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation this event will celebrate the life of Lord Young of Dartington and discuss the changing role of the extended family in modern society.
