Who Are UF Faculty?

Florida has more than 4,000 distinguished faculty members with outstanding reputations for their teaching, research and service. The faculty attracted more than $458 million in research and training grants in 2002-03.

Florida has more than 50 Eminent Scholar Chairs, positions funded at more than $1 million each to attract nationally and internationally recognized scholars. A variety of other endowed professorships help attract prominent faculty. More than two dozen faculty are members of the National Academies of Science and/or Engineering, the Institute of Medicine or a counterpart in another nation.

Teaching Resources

The Registrar's Office, which maintains students' academic records, publishes the Undergraduate Catalog and the Graduate Catalog, which are supplemented by the Course Schedule. The Registrar also sets the Critical Dates by Term and maintains ISIS, the academic computer system used by students, faculty and advisors. Recruitment and Development

The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Development provides orientation and career enhancement opportunities to new faculty members and administrators, facilitates the continuing development of current faculty as teachers and assists other campus offices prepare graduate students for careers as educators. The office also provides support for faculty excellence in research, service and quality of life through grants, awards, workshops, dual career services, enhancement "Conversations" and other activities.

Career Growth

The Office of Human Resource Services lists job openings and employee benefits.

Employees are eligible to take courses at UF and other Florida state universities through the Employee Education Program. Training in many areas is also available.

Computing

The Office of Information Technology provides a list of technology-related services for faculty and staff. Faculty and staff can request assistance from the UF Computing Help Desk.
