Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Youssef says the Cairo-based club is planning to come down hard on midfielder Hazem Emam after the latter's expulsion from Thursday’s training.

"Emam will be harshly punished for his bust-up with Mido this morning and for threatening to move to Ahly," Youssef was quoted as saying by Ahram Sport.

The 23-year-old player clashed with former Tottenham striker Ahmed “Mido” Hossam during the morning session, throwing his white jersey on the ground in frustration.

Media reports claimed that Mido had been angered by his teammate’s threats to switch to archrivals Ahly if he was not paid by the end of the week.

Emam, however, offered a different story, saying that he had refused to “obey” Mido’s instructions at training since that was the job of the technical staff.

Emam hasn’t received any payment since last season due to the club's financial woes. He is planning to resort to FIFA to terminate his contract.

Emam's agent, Mohamed Mansour, said his client was currently being courted by a number of European clubs, including Swedish Djurgardens IF, Spanish Celta Vigo and Athletic Bilbao, along with an unnamed Saudi club.

Earlier this week, Amr Zaki lodged an official complaint with the Egyptian FA in which he requested that his contract be terminated for the non-receipt of his payments.

Zamalek Club President Galal Ibrahim has called for patience, however, saying that the club would receive fresh funds within the next month.
