The champion starts in pole position, his 15th of the season, breaking Nigel Mansell's record for the most in a season and lining up on the front row ahead of Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber at Interlagos on Sunday.

| London to Stage 2017 World Athletics Championships |

The International Atheltics Federation, IAAF, has chosen London to host the 2017 World Athletics Championships, five years after organising the 2012 Olympic Games. London won the vote over Doha for the right to stage the global showpiece for the first time, thus fulfilling a promise of a legacy for track and field. London and Doha were the only candidates for the 2017 showpiece.

The Commonwealth Games Federation has chosen Australia's Gold Coast to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The vote went in its favour by a 43-27 margin over its only rival, the Sri Lankan city of Hambantota.
