Filmmaker: Julie Nimmo
Recorded over eight months in the community of Katherine in the Northern Territory of Australia, The Intervention reveals the federal government's implementation of its so-called 'intervention'.
It shows the impact of this controversial policy - which has recently been declared racist by the UN special rapporteur on indigenous human rights - on the aboriginal communities it is designed to 'stabilise'.
The film, by director Julie Nimmo, follows a range of people from within the community as well as the local government workers tasked with implementing the policy. It puts a human face on the consequences of a policy that has divided the country.
