Amr Khaled is one of world's most famous Islamic television evangelist. Attracting a following of millions in the Arab world, he uses satellite TV and the internet to preach messages of peaceful change within Islam while rejecting extremism.

His religious messages are inspired by hope and a desire to build better understanding between the East and West. According to his model of "life makers," Amr Khaled encourages Muslims to develop plans for transforming their lives and communities through Islam. 

Born in Egypt and an accountant by training, he began delivering inspirational talks in private homes and club gatherings in the 1990s. 

His popularity grew quickly as he emphasised emotional and spiritual connectivity among Muslims, and was able to communicate with Arab youth about the relevance of religion in the modern social issues they face.
