Answers
  1. It was Sophie's Choice in 1982, one of two Oscar wins. The others were among her 13 Best Actress nominations. She has three for supporting roles. Her latest gong was the New York Film Critics' Award, for The Iron Lady, out in January.
  2. It was the autocue. In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Tatyana Limanova said "she thought she was off-air and her gesture had been aimed at television crew to raise the autocue".
  3. It's "stupid". A new book, Affaires DSK: The Second Inquiry, by French journalist Michel Taubmann, says former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn believes his sexual encounter with a New York hotel maid was "consensual but stupid".
  4. It's Julie Walters. Michael Caine starred in the 1967 spy thriller Billion Dollar Brain. Twiggy won two Golden Globes for her role in his 1971 film The Boy Friend. Hugh Grant was in The Lair of the White Worm, released in 1988.
  5. It's Angry Birds. That theme park opened to the public in September in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province.
  6. It's Jasmine Hazelhurst who heard what sounded like plaintive mewing coming from a recycled clothes bin. Fire-fighters, the RSPCA and locals in Moelfre, Anglesey, all helped in the bid to free the feline, which turned out to be a toy. In other news, the snakes were eventually caught and Ginger the chicken was found.
  7. It's 10 cents. It's the first time a comic book has broken the $2m barrier. Action Comics No 1 was published in 1938 and only about 100 copies are thought to still be in existence. Only a handful of those are in good condition.
