Memberships

Yates Field House was built for the recreational use of Georgetown University students, faculty, staff, Medstar employees, alumni and their families. Membership categories are determined by one’s primary affiliation with the university.  Individuals and families not affiliated with the university may join Yates as “Friends” members.

For membership purposes, the "family" is defined as the base member plus spouse or legal dependent (21 or younger).  Additional dependents can be added for a fee (children 4 and under at no charge). Proof of family relationship is necessary for any family plan additions.  Full-time students aged 22 or younger may remain on their parent’s membership.

Memberships at Yates require a one year commitment, and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment may be made by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, or American Express. A payroll deduction plan is available as a convenience to full time university and Medstar employees. ID cards are individually issued and are non-transferable. Faculty, staff and student members must use university-issued ID cards. Memberships canceled prematurely will result in a penalty equal to three (3) months of applicable dues at Yates.

For your own safety, you should always consult your physician before entering into a strenuous conditioning program.

Students

All full time Georgetown students pay a mandated Yates fee each semester, and are automatically members. Full time status is determined by the number of credit hours for which a student is enrolled during the specific semester. For undergraduates, full time status requires 12 credit hours. For graduate students, full time status requires 9 credit hours.

Part-time students may become Yates members by paying the student fees.  Payment can be made at Yates Main Office by cash, check, credit card, GOCard, or direct billing to your student account. Current student membership fees per semester are as follows:

Single -- $174/semester

Family -- $239/semester (Primary member + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $20/semester

Faculty & Staff

All Georgetown University faculty and staff are eligible for Yates membership.  Payment for faculty and staff memberships can be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card.  Memberships can be purchased by visiting the Yates Main Office.  Current faculty and staff membership fees are as follows:

Single -- $444/year

Family -- $648/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $72/year

MedStar Employees

All Georgetown University MedStar employees are eligible for Yates membership.  Payment can be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card.  Memberships can be purchased at the Yates Main Office. A MedStar badge and Lawson ID number or GU ID are required to verify membership eligibility.  MedStar membership fees are as follows:

Single -- $612/year

Family -- $861/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $90/year

MedStar Resident membership rates as follows:

Single -- $420/year

Family -- $600/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $60/year

Alumni

All Georgetown alumni are eligible for an alumni membership.  Membership rates for "Young Alumni" (within five years of their undergraduate Georgetown degree) are as follows:

Single -- $580/year

Family -- $820/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $80/year

Memberships rates for all other alumni are as follows:

Single -- $774/year

Family -- $1106/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $100/year

"Friends of Georgetown"

Yates offers memberships for community members near Georgetown University.  There are no initiation fees.  Memberships can be purchased at the Yates Main Office.  These "Friends of Georgetown" memberships rates are as follows:

Single -- $996/year

Family -- $1476/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $100/year

Visiting Students

Full time students from other institutions are eligible to join Yates. Visiting student memberships are paid by the semester. Payments can be made using cash, check or credit card. Memberships can be purchased at the Yates Main Office. A valid ID and proof of enrollment from the student's institution are required for membership. Visiting Student membership fees are as follows:

Single -- $250/semester

Family --  $315/semester (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $20/semester

Short-Term Monthly

Monthly memberships are available for potential members who do not wish to commit to an annual contract.  Payments can be made using cash, check or credit card.  There are no initiation fees. Monthly membership rates are as follows:

Single -- $175/month

Family -- $245/month (Primary + 1 family member)

Additional Dependents -- $25/month

Guest Policy

Georgetown University grants Yates Field House members the privilege of bringing guests into the Field House. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests and must accompany their guest at all times when using Yates facilities. Failure to accept this responsibility will lead to suspension or revocation of membership privileges. For security reasons, all guests must present a photo ID before being allowed into the building.

Guest fees are $5 for guests of students and $10 for guests of non-student members. The following restrictions apply:

Members who wish to bring in a guest must obtain a guest pass in the Main Office, or by phone, at 687-2400, during normal Main Office hours of operation. Members may purchase up to 5 guest passes in advance, which they may use at any time, with a maximum of 3 guests per visit. All guests must have a guest pass. This pass-in-hand policy is strictly enforced.

Members may bring a maximum of 3 guests per day. Members must be 15 years of age to bring a guest. Members cannot bring in as their guests any type of private instructor. Guest fees are for entrance only and do not include locks, towels or other amenities. Guests are encouraged to bring a their own lock for day-locker usage. To control overcrowding, Yates staff reserve the right to limit the number of available guest passes for each day.

Law students are allowed up to 3 guests per day for general usage without advance purchase guest passes. These guests are responsible for paying the $5 guest fee at the front desk.

Alumni visiting campus from outside the D.C. metropolitan area (DC and the contiguous Maryland and Virginia counties) can enter Yates by presenting a GU alumni card and paying the $10 guest fee. These “Out of Town” alumni visitors may bring up to 3 guests for general usage at a fee of $10 each. Alumni residing in the D.C. metropolitan area may purchase yearly memberships.

For your protection, please do not bring in, as your guests, individuals who are loitering outside Yates.
