Who are the Baker Scholars?

The Baker Scholars encompass a variety of majors and career interests and are motivated and talented in different ways. Sophomores from every academic major in the College may apply. Candidates demonstrate a strong academic record and a dedication to service. To be a Baker Scholar, one must also demonstrate an interest in business.  

Why become a Baker Scholar?

Every Baker sponsored activity is done in the spirit of contribution and service. Because the Baker Program affords so many opportunities for success in the business world, it grounds itself in its core mission to use business as a mechanism for change, progress, and opportunity. Baker Scholars are committed to the Georgetown Jesuit ideal of becoming leaders who are women and men for others.

Highlights of the Baker Scholars Program

  • Personal mentoring from former Baker Scholars, now in the midst of their professional careers
  • Trips to major U.S. cities to personally experience the business world, from Wall Street to private art galleries, from MTV News to nonprofit organizations
  • Community service projects with fellow Baker Scholars
  • Social events with both the current Baker Scholars and the Baker Network
  • Financial assistance benefits based on need as determined by the University’s Office of Student Financial Services

How to Become a Baker

Applications are accepted from all academic majors in the College in the spring semester of their sophomore year who are interested in exploring business and who will take full advantage of the valuable benefits the Program provides.

Important Information for the Class of 2014

Information and the Spring 2012 application will be posted here in January 2012. There will be information sessions in January and February for College sophmores to learn more about the Baker Program and the application process and schedule.
