At least 100 defected soldiers were besieged this morning in Zawyia Mountain in Idlib near the towns of Kefer Ouaid and Al-Fateerah. They were either wounded or called. The number of the dead defected soldiers is still to be confirmed.
The death toll of civilians has risen to 49 martyrs today. 36 people were killed in massacre in Kefer Ouaid in Idlib district. The identities of 26 people were identified while the other 10 martyrs are unidentied and their bodies were thrown in the mosque. Among the killed people is the Imam,(religious head) of the mosque, who was beheaded. Another person was killed this morning in random gunfire in Khan Sheikhon in Idlib. 12 people were killed in Homs: 7 in Baba Amr and 5 in Al-Jandali and Kerm Al-Zeyton.
Meanwhile, 14 members of security forces were killed in Basra Al-Hareer in Daraa in clashes with suspected defectors.
The villages of Balyoon and Al-Mozah, in Idlib, have been bombarded by heavy machine guns since the early morning. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation is very miserable in Zawiya Mountain where there have been military operations over the last three days. There are reports of martyrs in the town of Kensafra that so far the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights is unable to confirm their identities yet due to difficulties in communication and the residents’ inability of leaving their homes. Also, the Syrian authorities have arrested dozens of residents in Kensafra and the neighbouring villages.
One person was fallen martyr and 4 were wounded in random gunfire by a security barrier in the city of Khan Sheikhon, in Idlib district. One of the wounded people is in a critical condition.

The death toll of civilians for today Monday 19 December 2011 has risen to 40 martyrs for whom we have their identity records and circumstances of death. 11 people were killed in Daraa and another 9 in Idlib including 2 children. Also, 3 people were fallen martyrs in the neighbourhood of Al-Meedan in Damascus, 3 martyrs were fallen in Deir Ezzor and 13 in Homs. And a person was killed in Hama under torture.
A defected soldier has told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that dozens of defected soldiers were killed today in gunfire by machine guns. They were killed while trying to run away from their military positions on the way between the villages of Kensafra and Kefer Quaid, in Zawyia Mountain, in Idlib district. He added that the Syrian authorities have dragged the bodies of the soldiers. The defected soldier who was wounded himself said that almost 60-70 soldiers were killed.
3 people were fallen martyrs and dozens were wounded today in the city of Al-Kawriya, east of Deir Ezzor district, in random gunfire from heavy machine guns. This was following the violent clashes between groups of army defectors and the Syrian regular military and security forces near the market (Bazar), the petrol station and Al-Sultan Mosque. During the clashes the defected group has taken a car belonging to the military security forces.
There was heavy bombardment by machine guns at security barricades targeting the houses in the neighbourhood of Bab Al-Sebaa accompanied with explosions last night.
The death toll of the civilian martyrs for Sunday 18 December 2011 was 16 martyrs. There were 8 martyrs in Homs including a 4-year-old boy, who was killed in random gunfire in the city of Al-Qusair, a woman, who was died in the city of Talbeesa from injuries sustained on Friday, and a man who was killed under torture in the village of Al-Ghantto near Homs. 6 people were killed in Idib in gunfire by security forces. In the city of Deir Ezzor, a young man was killed in gunfire during the funeral of a person in the neighbourhood of Al-Hamedia. Meanwhile, a 10 year-old girl was killed in random gunfire in the neighbourhood of Al-Meedan in Damascus.
There were violent clashes between the Syrian security forces and army defectors at the entrances of the city of Da’el in Daraa following the authorities’ attempts of opening the roads closed by the residents as a part of the Strike.

The ‘Dignity Strike’ is continuing for the eighth consecutive day in the city of Khan Sheikon in Idlib. It included shops, schools and all the government offices. So far the Strike is highly successful.
