Ron - Contractors are not Soldiers. They are paid large sums of money and have elected to go to Iraq for that money. They are not serving under the direction of the US government and its chain of command. Contractors work for an employer who seeks a profit. Many contractors are former Soldiers otherwise known as Veterans, who deserve a thank you for their service. A contractor may leave Iraq at any time if they are willing to forgo their salary. A Soldier may not leave until his unit is brought home by the US government who sent that unit to Iraq. Please do not confuse a contractor with a Soldier.
