Sophomore Honors Village - Opening Fall 2011

SoHo

© 2010 Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Co

Debuting in the fall of 2011, SoHo is Tulane's newest residential college designed with intellectual life in mind. A companion hall to Butler House (Tulane's first-year honors residence hall), SoHo is a place for sophomores seeking a living community rife with opportunities for intellectual engagement. Though SoHo is supported by the Tulane Honors Program, any current first-year student with at least a 3.000 GPA can apply to live there.

All SoHo residents must be enrolled in at least one honors course or honors course equivalent each semester they are living there (those not in the Honors Program will be granted clearance to register). In addition, all residents must contribute to intellectual life in the community by way of participating in residential committees, which will be advised by Honors Faculty Fellows from throughout the University.

More information about this theme living community will be available through the Housing Selection Processes throughout the spring semester.

Sophomore Honors Village (SoHo) Application

Sophomore Honors Village (SoHo) is Tulane’s new honors residential college for sophomore
undergraduates, a residential community driven by students seeking intellectual life outside of their
academic coursework. Though affiliated with the Tulane Honors Program, SoHo is open to any
student who meets the minimum requirements to apply listed below.

All those accepted will be required to participate in one or more building-wide committees, each of
which will be devoted to strengthening a different area of intellectual life both in the honors
community and throughout Tulane. All residents must also enroll in one honors course (or honors
course equivalent) each semester, which they will be permitted to do regardless of membership in the
Honors Program. (More specific information can be found at the Honors Program website:
honors.tulane.edu) Aside from these basic requirements, SoHo residents will be encouraged to
engage in intellectual exploration however they like with no other parameters imposed.

To apply, one must have all of the following:

  •  A minimum 3.000 cumulative GPA
  •  Exactly 1 semester of completed coursework (not counting credit earned in high school)
  •  No honor board convictions or excessive conduct violations
  •  A desire to contribute to intellectual life on campus

SoHo Village Floor Plans are available here

The application period for SoHo Village is now closed. The application and instructions are no longer available for download.
