Trade unions suspend planned strike

Petra | Dec 25,2011 | 00:45

AMMAN — The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) on Saturday suspended a planned strike scheduled for January 15 after the government pledged to consider the federation’s reservations on the labour and social security draft laws.

In a statement issued yesterday, the GFJTU said it had also received assurances from the Lower House Labour Committee on deputies’ intent to protect labour rights and to increase the minimum wage to JD190 per month.
