AMMAN — 13 out of 58 companies where the Social Security Corporation (SSC) has stakes are troubled firms, Yasser Odwan, head of the SSC’s Investment Unit, told lawmakers on Monday. He attributed the losses at these entities to the global financial crisis and other factors such as “technical and administrative mistakes”. Odwan estimated profits for the current year to increase by 3 per cent, compared with an average of 10 per cent over the past decade. Numerically, the unit posted JD100 million profits in 2011.
