Panda filmed eating meat in China

Help

A wild panda has been caught on camera gnawing at the bones of a dead gnu, a type of wild cow, in China's Sichuan Province.

Scientists from the Wanglong Nature Reserve were studying panda habitats in Pingwu County.

They realised an animal had been chewing on flesh from a dead animal, so decided to set up a security camera to monitor who was eating the meat.

Pandas usually eat bamboo, but they have been known to eat goats or sheep in the past, although it is rare behaviour.

David Eades reports.
