Al Ghad appoints new responsible editor

AMMAN — The board of Al Ghad Arabic daily and its publisher Mohammad Elayyan on Saturday appointed journalist Jumana Ghneimat as responsible editor-in-chief to succeed journalist Mustafa Saleh, who resigned the post last week.

Ghneimat joined Al Ghad in 2008 as director of the economic department and became vice chief editor in 2010.

Earlier, she worked as a journalist at Al Rai newspaper and Al Sijil Magazine and as a correspondent for several Arab newspapers and magazines.

In remarks posted on Al Ghad’s website, Ghneimat said she will work to raise the ceiling of press freedom in the newspaper.

Al Ghad also appointed journalist Fahed Kheitan as editing adviser and a columnist, while Fuad Abu Hijleh, the newspaper’s chief editor, resigned his post. No reasons were given for his resignation.
