Arab Film Festival to take place in Brussels

Between 11 and 15 January, Belgium will hold AFLAM, the Arab Film Festival

During a 5-day festival of Arab films starting 11 January, movies from Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria will be screened in a number of locations across Brussels, Belgium.

From Egypt, the festival will screen El-Shouq by Khaled El-Hagar; 18 Days, a cooperation between Yousry Nasrallah, Ahmad Abdallah, Sherif Arafa, Kamla Abou Zikri, Marwan Hamed, Sherif El-Bendari, Khaled Marei, Mariam Abou Ouf, Ahmed Alaa and Mohamed Ali; and Hawy by Ibrahim El-Batout.

Other films will include 1/2 Revolution, a film about the Egyptian revolution by Omar Shargawi and Karim El-Hakim; Three Disappearances of Soad Hosni, a Lebanese production directed by Rania Stephan; and the Tunisian films A Revolution Under 5' by Ridha Tlili and An Auditorium by Karim Yaacoubi. The festival will show, also, a number of other movies from the Arab region or about the region.

Festival organisers say the selection includes "films which stand for their artistic quality and present the inside [take] on today’s Arab societies."

The festival will begin 11 January and will continue through 15 January in a vareity of locations across Brussels: Bozar Cinema, Vendome, Arab Culture Centre and Pianofabriek.
