The death toll of a series of terrorist attacks in Baghdad on Thursday has reached 40, according to police.
The first bomb went off at the entry to a Shia mosque, while two others - at a busy marketplace, where Baghdad residents normally buy food in the run-up to weekends.
The bombs were hidden in grocery carts. An hour later, a car bomb went off in a neighbouring district. The attacks proved the bloodiest in Iraq in the last five months.
