Baghdad blasts kill 69

A total of 69 people were killed by a series of blasts in Baghdad on Thursday.

Sixteen explosions ripped through various locations across Baghdad at short intervals leaving about 200 people injured.

Two terrorist attacks took place in Mosul in the north of Iraq.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts.

The explosions occurred amid the deteriorating political situation in Iraq which many link with the withdrawal of US troops.

The last US contingent left Iraq on December 18th .

Sunni leaders have accused Shiite Prime Minister Nouri Maliki of seizing power and of acting in conspiracy with Iran.
