The National Gallery in London is one of the best museums to study the history of Western painting.
It also posts job listings regularly on its website, so museum workers, art conservators, painting restorers, etc. may have a good opportunity to find work there.

What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than view Christian-inspired artworks in a museum? You don't need to be religious in order to appreciate great works as these. The photo above depicts a beautiful Madonna and Child painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting is part of the State Hermitage Museum's collection.
The State Hermitage, founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, has approximately three million objects in its collections, including the most paintings of any museum.

When I lived in NYC, I loved this time of year, with the fragrant scents of pine trees in the air. I also loved visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art during the holiday season. Looking at Renaissance art can help put you into a festive mood.
