IRGC forces fight with Kurdish group

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The dissident Kurdish group PJAK has clashed with Islamic Republic forces near Baneh in western Iran.

The Fars News Agency reports that one member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and four members of PJAK were killed in the conflicts.

The report also indicated that several members of the dissident group were wounded.

The Free Life of Kurdistan Party (PJAK) previously battled Islamic Republic forces in September and November, with both sides reporting they’d dealt heavy blows to their adversary.

The clashes wound down after PJAK said it had agreed to a ceasefire following “the mediation of various groups and figures.”

The IRGC announced, however, that they had pushed PJAK forces out of Iran and taken control of the Iranian territories bordering Iraq.
