“The fall of the army will mean that defeat of the entire nation,” Presidential candidate Mohamed Selim Al-Awa said, adding, “The SCAF is not incompetent, however it is not trained to deal with civilians - the police is responsible for that."
Al-Awa spoke of his opposition to the proposed idea of “safe departure” explaining that it applies to those who have committed crimes, whereas the SCAF, in his opinion, has unintentionally made some mistakes but its members are not traitors.
Insisting that the “corrupt” system has still not fallen, Al-Awa explained that it will take time and a strong government backed by a parliament to change that.
Al-Awa criticized the revolution for its lack of organization, commenting on the excessive amount of coalitions, indicating that the biggest achievement of the revolution was defeating the police on January 28.
