Special Projects Coordinator

Peter Sawyer is special projects coordinator at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.  Focusing on water, population and environmental issues, he works to extend the impact of the Center's reporting on those topics by developing relationships with leading subject experts, advocacy organizations, and governments, organizing public outreach, and making reporting-based presentations to schools and universities across the United States. He also periodically writes for the Pulitzer Center’s publication, Untold Stories.

Peter graduated from Davidson College, majoring in economics.  In 2008, he received a Bank of America-Kemp Grant to study determinants of entrepreneurship on the community level.  He was a member of the International Economics Honor Society and Bernard Society of Mathematics as well as First Critic in the Philanthropic Literary Society.

He previously worked as first mate on a schooner in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and as a volunteer firefighter.  Peter’s ambition is to live a life he’d like to tell stories about—and have an interested audience.
