Offenhauer Towers

Continue Walking Tour | Residence Hall Tour

By 1968, the population of the University had grown such that it warranted construction of another dormitory. Thus, the University approved plans for the construction of another building for that purpose. However, the administration intended the building to be different from previous dormitories constructed on campus. Indeed, Offenhauer Towers was to be the first "high-rise" dormitory on campus as well as the first "plush dorm on campus." Since its construction, the building has been one of the most popular residence halls for students living on campus. The large rooms, modern interior design, and close proximity to the buildings on campus continue to be the main attractions.  The building was named for Roy E. Offenhauer, the second president of the university.
