AMMAN — Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Tuesday discussed with Tony Blair, representative of the International Quartet for Middle East peace, efforts to push the peace process forward.

Talks also tackled the recent meetings between the Palestinians and the Israelis in Amman, which were meant to break a deadlock in the peace negotiations between the two sides to ultimately lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution.

During the meeting, Judeh underlined Jordan’s keenness to maintain constant coordination with the Quartet to ensure that the ongoing meetings between the Palestinians and the Israelis are productive and can lead to serious direct talks between the two sides to address all the final status issues that take into consideration Jordan’s interests.

For his part, Blair commended Jordan’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, expressing the Quartet’s support for the Kingdom.

The international body includes Russia, the US, the European Union and the United Nations.
